I was just reading the 'Rogue Rod' thread and 1 post got me thinking. When using the super lines, is it a good idea to max out the line rating on the rod? I mean, if we can break rods using good mono that is rated higher than the rod was designed for, are we running that risk using super lines rated in the upper range of the rod? I feel comfortable using 12lb mono on my 8 - 12 lb rated rod, but do I dare use 12lb rated FireLine?
confused

the simple answer is that the rod doesn't know the difference between superline and mono. It does know when you put #50 super line on an 8-12 rated rod. Any rod rep I've talked to stresses line test not type of line. Superlines can groove the guides on your rod though.
