I know how to use the flow charts to find flows but i am wondering if someone could please tell me at what levels the sky is fishable. thanks in advance also, thanks for all of the help this last week, managed my first chum this weekend on the skagit, right around twenty pounds i estimated, on a fly nonetheless...quite a riot! Thanks again

Josh

Josh, it depends on where on the sky you plan to fish. A gage hight of 9ft might be fishable up high on the river and the lower is blown out of shape. The lower section is fishable at 4ft and there is no water up above. You need to keep track of this and learn what section you like to fish at different water levels, hope this helps.

Depending on whether the river is going up or going down and how fast the flow has been changing, I generally find anything below about 6,000 cfs to be pretty fishable in a DB.

Much higher than that and you have to start looking at fishing secondary water as the main holes are probably pumping too fast.

Low flows are nice because it keeps the jet boats off. smile

That being said, how it got to the current flow is more important than the actual flow. It can be blown with 6 inches of vis at 3,500cfs and a beautiful green and fishing great at 6,500cfs.
