Could someone tell me if there is a better take out than Black creek. I want to float from White Bridge down but the launch at black creek looks like the current could be a little problem if you are trying to get off the river.

Also are there any hazards I should know about. I have done the Kalama a number of times and have fished the Wynoochee a few times, but never floated it. Email me if you would rather do it that way. Want to know because I normally take the wife along and it is never a good thing to scare the crap out of her. Thanks..

Be aware of the little intake dam / weer.Stay left and don't be afraid to lower your boat by rope if conditions call for it.Black creek boat launch is fine, just row up into black creek if it get's crowded.Good luck,

P.S. You may want to hire a local guide for the first ride down it??????.That's what I've done in the past and it seems to work out pretty well.

The black creek takeout is completely out of the current.

The little dam at the intake hole is extremely dangerous,. More than one boat has been dumped at this location and a fisherman drown there last year.
Seriously think about roping your boat around the dam, it is not difficult to do. The rest of the float is easy. If you are planning a weekend float pick a number to launch.

OK this may seem like a stupid question but no more stupid than not asking then losing a boat.

Could someone describe in detail how exactly to rope a driftboat around this obstacle?

This area is called the intake hole. The city of Aberdeen has a water plant at this location.
The spillway/dam is not large. You can walked your boat around the east side of the spillway.
There is a sign hanging over the water before your arrive at this location warning of danger.
We have always empty our boat of any real prize possessions and attached a rope to the boat. We would walk on land, there is room, and allow the boat to float over/around the end. The power of the current is incredible it will attempt to suck your boat back into the the dam causing it to fill with water. Probably the most import think to remember is to take time to walk your boat and don't fool around trying to get an extra cast in before you get to the spillway. Pay attention! you have plenty of time to get out of your boat and do the right thing. what
