Trying to find some new drifts to make in the driftboat, what are your favorites and why, I'm not looking for zippers here just some nice drifts!

It's closed now, but when it opens again on June 1st, the Klickitat is both beautiful and full of fish!! It's a pretty easy river to handle, quite small. There are quite a few pull-outs and choices to float, but if you're gonna do it, do the whole float from Lidle bridge to town.

The Sky is a good float too.

Any of the drifts on the upper Sol Duc, very pretty but can be somewhat tricky in spots. The upper Bogachiel ,from 101 to the hatchery is a good float and its easy. From Morgans crossing to oxbow on the Hoh is also a really good float, lots of good water and pretty easy. The Hoh float can be tricky coming into the canyon and dropping into oxbow if the water is low. beer
Just enjoy the day!!!!

Another quick exlamation point about the canyon stretch of the Hoh (where you take out at Oxbow).....I would not recommend going thru that water sight unseen. Go with someone who knows it and has rowed it before...its not super hard, but there are enough spots where you need to see it once before going thru, especially at the very bottom where you drop down and have to avoid the big boulder right above the Oxbow take out....more than a couple boats have gone over there. Oddly enough its a bit harder at lower or moderate flows. smile

You guyz are mean, Mekenna to tank crossing class 3 and 4 common at these low conditions???Klikitat? any float that has a fish ladder in the lower end must raise a few questions, the upper sol duc?? come on you tryin to kill this guy???????????
Try mortor range to tank crossing or even mellower to I 5 on the Nisqually. Upper float to Ice house on the Klikitat and the middle run on the Sol duc.

My all time favorite is the Deschutes River in Oregon, Beavertail to the mouth. Two day/one night float. August to October for summer run steelies. River levels are always steady so no worries about high or muddy waters. I like fall the best as all the rafters are gone by then. Requires a shuttle driver but you can hire them from the Oasis. Haven't done it in 15 years, but it used to be an annual event for me. It still brings back my fondest WA or OR river memories.

Chum eater, FYI The Nisqually is done for the season but if you choose to fish it next summer for salmon do some research. Lucky for us last summer we bank fished before we floated and what a smart move that was when we came across a huge log jam (unpassible) the river actually is in the process of making it's own path through the woods. Hopefully this winter we get high enough flows to blow these trees out, because there is some fun to be had there during early salmon season.
