I have a Willie driftboat that does not have a heater system installed. I was wondering the best way of putting one safely in the bow of the boat. I would think buying one of those smaller propane heaters would work but you would somehow want to secure it in place when drifting - but not so secure that you couldn't replace it easy enough when the tank emptied. When rowing, I never seem to get cold but I'll hear alot of whining from the people up front. A few times I've given the oars over to take a break and sat in their seat only to start getting pretty cold myself - of course then I have to kick them out so I can warm up again. Any ideas on the best way to add a propane heater?

Thanks - Henry

Mine came factory but the way they are set up is pretty easy. Take a few mr heater heads and mount one in the front right under the deck and the other is located between the front box and the rowers seat. Run one main 5 gal. tank in the back of the rowers seat and plumb the two together. Nice to have to stay warm or cook on.

Mr. Heater! Duck Tape or Bugie Cords in the Bow.

I saw a mention of sticking the tank in an old milk crate to keep it from tipping over.

Be sure to seal joints with teflon tape.

Umm! French Dip on the River! Bratwurst! No more frozen fingers. I can't beleive I went 15 years without a heater!

If people in the front of my driftboat complain about how cold it is my solution is GET ON THE OARS!!!!

Oars are the best heaters on a driftboat

The standard plastic milk crate holds a 5 gallon propane bottle with Mr. Heater on top nice and tight, and it's easy to attach bungies to. That's what I use evil (Well, flame acctually)

I have an out of the way SAFE system mounted in my Koffler. Go to www.kofflerboats.com click on Driftboats, go to options and scroll down to heater systems and click the link. You can get the brackets and heaters from Joe Koffler(just don't tell him it's for a Willie). You can have the hoses made at most propane shops to exactly fit your boat.
