I was given a few old fishing items from my grandfathers estate, and would like to find out if any of you folks know if they are anything to get exited about. #1 A baitcasting reel made by Pfluegar model #1375 Rocket. Solid metal heavy as heck, direct drive with a star drag and in mint condition with box. #2 At least 20-30 Martin salmon plugs by Martin Fish lure Co. Of Seattle with the boxes all in awesome shape some new. Prices are about $2.00 on the boxes and most are strictly for salmon, 5 of them are called Gantron Fireplug Pearl Pink. #3 A bunch on Seattle Sixes, Canadian Wonders, and spoons and lures of all kinds from many years ago. #4 3- Heddon Bamboo or cane rods looks to be custom built and are 3 pieces and are brand new. #5 A couple of new Fenwick Rods that are Fenwick Feralite FS86C 8.5ft then it says 81/2oz. Thick butt end but very sensitive tip, and the guides are all heavy metal. These rods are brand new and look to be from a while ago. Any tips, comments, facts, would be appreciated. Thanks

Can you shoot me a couple pix? I'll give you an rough estimate on the tackle. Do you plan on parting with any of it? I may be interested in a few items for my collection.

The original boxes, in good condition, make the tackle considerably more valuable to a collector. Bamboo flyrods bring top dollar, saltwater rods and baitcaster rods somewhat less. A lot of collectors are interested in old Heddon tackle. I sold a Heddon bass plug for $120, and the buyer got a bargain. I haven't heard of saltwater plugs bringing top dollars, but Martin is out of business, the plugs are probably wooden, and you've got the boxes. I would think they'd bring at least $15-$25. It's not easy to find a mint condition Pflueger reel with the box. To get a better idea of your treasure trove's value, check the antique fishing tackle books at Barnes and Noble, and browse thru antique mall libraries, as well. Look for eBay listings of similar gear, and ask the tackle collectors usually present at any sportsmen's show. Expect to get wholesale prices and offers from the collectors. Keep the Fenwick, and fish with it. My .02

Your Heddon bamboo rods are in some demand. Generally, rods 8 feet and less command higher prices than those 9 feet and over. Heddon's top grades in decreasing order are: President, 1000, Expert 125, Premier 115, Deluxe 60. Some of these in shorter lengths may go for over a thousand dollars. The next (mid quality) models include the Bill Stanley Model 20 and Black Beauty Model 17. Cleck auctions on ebay under bamboo fly rod. Do not type "bamboo fly rods" or you will get only a couple hits. There are usually 7-8 pages of rods listed at any one time. To speak with a reputable dealer you could try Martin Keane 413-229-7988 or Bud Frasca 208-699-0630. Marty buys them, and Bud sells them on consignment on his website, www.northwest classic tackle.com. Hope this helps.

I have a buddy that collects older fishing tackle as a full time job. He pays top dollar in cash and is a valuable source of information even the items are not in his area of interest. I just gave him a three piece heddon rod for free because we are friends and he insisted on paying market value. He is a very easy going guy, no pressure type of buyer. If you want his number send me a email. Good luck!
