anybody doing anything i was out today and at 10:00am i hooked into a bright steelie on a jig and float tipped with a shrimp tail only to get it beached and before i could grab it the jig came loose and back in it went very fresh fish about 10lbs :(i had bad footing everything was full of ice surprised i didn't fall and break something i also caught a 23 inch cutthroat i have never eaten one before so i bonked her those are some pretty fish and after i set the hook on her all she did was kind of a death roll like a croc all the way in she was full of eggs to bummer if i would have known that she would have been released.i had 1 other hit but it was only on for just a few seconds then it got off it was probably a chum it took it down slow the steelie slammed it hard but i ended up snagging and losing that jig and didn't touch anything else after that

Let's see, you bonked a large female cutthroat in the late fall, and was surprised she was full of eggs? Dude, you've just removed a large spawner from the gene pool, before she could add her progeny to future years' catch.

I suspect you've already figured this out, so I'll hold back the flames. Please remember in the future, there aren't that many cutts in the Snohomish system, and the big ones are often kept. I've heard estimates of about 600 spawners in the Snoqualmie side, comparable in the Skykomish. Killing the big ones is a great way to breed for small fish. Maybe we could let these go in the future?

That said, nice fish, I've never caught one as big.
