My bro-in-law is coming up from Cali for X-MAS,and wants to go steelhead fishing. I really want him to catch some fish,so I'm setting up a guided trip. Rob's rates seem reasonable ( $150 ),but I don't know anybody whos' fished with him. Any opinions??
thanks.

Your brother in-law is in for a great experience.
Rob is one of the finest guides and individuals
you will ever meet. He knows the rivers he fishes better then most, and has more than one time been the only boat catching fish on slow days! I don't normally recommend other guides but Rob is a sure bet for a quality experience all the way around. Have fun!!

I've been out with a few guides and without a doubt he's the best I've been out with. I now use him exclusively on a regular basis. As the previous post mentions, if there's fish to be had he'll get you into them. You'll have a great time guaranteed!

Robbo is outstanding. Not only does he know the rivers he fishes but he is as personable bloke as you will ever want to meet.

Robbo is a great guy. He may be too good to send an in-law with! Hell. I'd send my in-law out with "Give me some e-mail", and save the trip with Robbo for myself. He should have a great time.

If you need any ammunition, I have a compromising photo of Robbo with a North American bonefish, and a old boot chum. hello hello

If robbo isn't available at that time of year, the only other gear guide that I would recomment would be John Koenig (johns-guide-service.com). He is a great guy both fishing wise and personality wise. I don't know his rates off the top of my head, but personality wise he is a great guy.

Despite what others may say, it doesn't matter what river system you fish with Robbo, he'll put you into fish. He's a great guy, excellent guide and an awesome fisherman, you will have a great day and memorable trip.

We'll...I got ahold of Rob yesterday, and he's booked for the days we can go,so he set us up with John Koenig instead. He thinks very highly of John, and assured us we'll have a great time. I'll have to go with Rob at a later date. smile

I've talked with him, ordered videos from him, and seen him on many videos...but never fished with him...but my gut feeling is that he's very honest, and quite knowledgeable about catching fish! But steelhead, esp. when the rivers aren't in great shape that day, can be tough...so he's probably a great choice, but there are no guarantees in fishing...or else they'd call it "catching" and not "fishing"!

Don't be disapointed about fishing with John. I worked with him in Alaska 2 summers ago and he is a first class guy. Not only catches a lot of fish, but will give you some great stories to boot. And his boats/gear are all top notch. Just pray that he brings some cookies er something that his wife makes. They are to die for!!!

1. Rob is definitely a good guy, and a good guide.

2. His rates are good.

3. He's pretty straightforward and trustworthy, unless he's telling any stories from our college days that involve me. Those are likely to be lies.

Fish on...

Todd.
