Several years ago I fished a hole about 1/4-1/2 mile downriver from Reiter. I believe I took a trail where the big open mine operation is. But that area now has no trepass signs all over and I couldn't find anyone to talk to about river access. Does anyone know a legal way to get down to the holes that are below Reiters other than walking in from Reiters?
Thanks.

Are you talking about Reiter Ponds on the Skykomish? If you are referring to the big gravel pit that has no trespassing signs I think it is more of a liability issue for them. I have many times walked through the pit and there were workers all over, I have even talked to them. I do not think they care if you walk through, I think the no trespassing signs are up in case you get run over by a dump truck then you may have a hard time suing them.

Thats the spot, I believe if you walk down from there you come to a nice drift that has bigger boulders and would definately be good float water. The other question is where to park. That and the "trepassers will be castrated" note painted on a rock had me a tad worried...

That is where those punks on trial for murder executed Rachel Burkheimer.

I have not been up there since summer and have not seen the note on the rock about "Tresspassers will be castrated".

Maybe things have changed since they have got some recent publicity in the news do to the murder that occurred there.

Probably easier to walk down from Rieter or stop in and ask them if they care about fisherman walking through to get access to the river. All they could say is did you see the sign laugh

The gravel pit operates on weekdays (most weekdays) and I have driven in many times. I always stop at the office at the entrance and try to get permission. Sometimes there's someone there, sometimes not.
Be sure to observe the speed limit if you're driving down to the hole.

Are you talking about the Cable Hole? It's fairly easily reached from the other side, although maybe not what you were looking for..... confused

Yes, I think everyone is talking about the Cable Hole.

The only way I have fished from the other side is to walk up from Proctor Creek. Is there an easier way?

Yeah, you can park upstream (almost directly across from the hatchery creek) along the highway (shoulder is wide, sort of an unvalidated parking area), walk across the tracks, and find the trail down to and along the river's edge downstream, or upstream for that matter.

Don't fish there whatever you do!!

There is no fish there!!

and definitely NOT jig water wink

*j/k that is where I go instead of fighting the Reiter Crowd, on occasion.

I have been driving and walking in there .......years, its a fun walk back up with fish in hand....NOT!!

It can be a productive place on either side.
Oh btw Watch out for bears and cougars eek
