Does anyone know what these ribbon markers are used to indicate and their code colors?

I imagine they mark spawning fish but they sure are unsightly.

I know on the Green river they use them to mark locations of Redds.

ON the coastal river the red markers where to mark Redds. Some had the date and the checker's name, some where blank.

I agree that they are a bit of a distraction from the warm green of the fall algae. I like to see them, however, because the more of them I see, the more fish I'll get to through hooks at in 4 to 6 years.

In the Snoqualmie this fall, the king run was easily twice, maybe 4 times what it has been for the past several years. It may come to pass that we will be able to fish for these again.
