I was looking at the tips page the other day and saw the bit about making rags at home. I made some out of some of those foam earplugs. I am wondering if anyone else has tried this, and if so, did they work? They look awesome. I made some with chartreuse plugs and peach yarn, and another batch with bright orange plugs and chartreuse yarn. They'll go in the water on Monday.

I have never made them from ear plugs but have seen it done. Yes they will work just as good as the backer rod made rags.

from what I understand, the ear plugs may even be a better option since you can get different colors...

Where do you find the different colored earplugs?

that would be a good start... the work place ones are the best - and the price is right! seriously though, places like Grainger or an industrial supply company of the same nature would be my best guess...I should apologize though, I've never tried it myself - just sounds like a great idea! grainger web page

Sullie13 I have not fished rags much but in the limited time I used them I managed to hook a few fish. IMO I would always put scent on them just like you would a corkie and yarn. I managed to take a few Silvers by fishing them with eggs on as well. The water was high and murky and they could not resist that big rag and eggs
