Sad day folks... My one and only Loomis rod (1025C) was broken on the Lyre River on Saturday. I would have liked to say fighting a steelhead but it was a "big" Chum salmon, not abusing it, just trying to beach the thing and get my lure back.

I bought that rod brand new about 2 years ago, no receipts. Should I take her out back and bury it or attempt to get it fixed? The butt section is okay, the top section at the joint is where it fractured.

Is there a cheaper rod that equals a Loomis? Confused and at a lost on what to do.

Appreciate any advise. <><

2 options ...

Go to any Loomis dealer, pay $50 or so and get a new one off the rack, no questions asked, no matter how you broke it.

And 2) send it in w/o any $$$ and perhaps they'll deem it defective. If they don't, they'll still fix it for far less than a new rod.

Either way, you've got options thumbs

I have broken several Loomis rods over the years and each time I only had to pay for shipping, $5 each. laugh Outdoor Emporium and Salmon Bay is where I get my rods and I just take it to them and they handle it. They call me when they get it back and I go pick it up usually costing only $5. That's why I like using Loomis Rods. The wait(2wks or less) is not a problem for me because I have plenty of backups. Who wants to pay full price for a rod over and over again even if its a cheapy. beathead Always buy a rod with a warranty. My .02 thumbs

I'll go wirth Bob on this one. I broke my favorite fly rod, don't now how but it just broke about 6" above the ferrel. Contracted GLoomis got a new rod in two days and all it cost was $50.00. And the rod I got was a better one than the one I broke. Not bad for a 10 year old rod. <img border="0" alt="[santa]" title="" src="graemlins/santa.gif" />

Not trying to start anything...BUT.. rolleyes Why would someone keep buying the same type of rod or anything over and over if they keep breaking??? If I am going to spend the type of $$$$$ that a loomis costs and it breaks ONCE while fishing I will NEVER buy one again! I have owned probably around a 150 different rods. From living and fishing in Hawaii to Slammin big bass in Ga. (Maybe cause I don't put 50lb power pro on a 12 lb rod??? )Never once had one break while fishing. So, if loomis is so great why do I always see posts asking how to get them fixed or replaced? What really makes them so special compared to other sticks? confused

G Loomis warranty program is a joke, and here is why you buy a loomis and it brakes from what they told me it will only be defective the first couple of times you use it from then on it is basically your fault. So what about the guy who brakes his rod in a manner that is not abuse. He sends his rod to them and he gets the run around from there reps about how it was his fault. he the now has to pay 75$ to get it fixed when the guy who slammed his rod in a car door only has to pay 50$ with their expedite service. to me this seems like a slap in the face. Also now that loomis has been bought out by shimano, i have noticed alot more problems with their rods like the inside of the guides falling out and what not. Maybe G loomis' glory days are over.now they have switched to a capitalist attitude, and thats make the cheapest rod and sell it at an expensive price. just my .02
