So who's going to be fishin' on Christmas Day? Just curious how crowded the river's going to be. I plan on hittin' the Cow. I did find chrome weekend before last. But, I didn't take the boat 'cuz all the people. I'm hoping it won't be as crowded on Christmas. It's pretty much a no brainer as to whether to go to the inlaws, sleep or fish! what

Berkely,

There's plenty of bobber fishing on the SNo, it's one of the preferred methods to fish at the big Eddy. I use jigs and bobbers quite a bit elsewhere on the river.

I fished the Alsea today was really slow but did manage to get one wild buck it was the biggest steelhead I have ever caught I didnt have a camera but took mesurements it was 36 in length 19 in around the pectral fins and 19 around the vent fins does any one know the formula for figuring the weight by the measurements? I got one last year that was 17 lbs and this one dwarfed that by a long shot

Turned out to be a good plan! Only about 12 fishermen at the point through out the day. Still not real hot but some nice fish did come in. about 50/50 chrome to boot ratio. I did manage to land a smallish chrome buck. And got a good scare/laugh when my bud hooked into a big boot late in the day and got so excited he stumbled, and fell right in front of me as he was trying to chase the fish down. Had to grab him by the scruff and pull him out. All 280# of him. The guys a real schleprock but he did get me into fishing about ten years ago, and is always good for a laugh. Hope everyone had a great christmas.

I fished the cowlitz on christmas with my dad and his buddy in his sled. Saw two chromies taken by the bankies at blue creek, the handful of other fish I seen hooked were dark old summer run. I guess the chromers decided to take christmas off also. I was in the christmas mood and decided to give the Cow Pie about 20 leaders. How do people afford to boondog down there, between the gas and all the gear I gave her, I don't think I will be doing this again.
