Help me! I have a used ambassaudeur 5000 and I was giving it a routine cleaning and I put it back together and there is now no drag or antireverse! all the parts are there, I have checked the schematics several times, and each time I have all the parts acounted for. What could be causing this and how do I fix it? I was planning on using it tomorrow, so if somebody could help me out with some thoughts, I would appreciate it very much! Thanks in advance!

Had the same problem with my 6500 and it turned out that somehow the cog on the spool had been pushed down the shaft far enough for it not to engage properly (clumsey me ) You might want to look in that direction. I took mine in to the repair shop. It took him less than 5 mins. to fix

There is a little cog that needs to be around one of the wheels on the handle axle. The cog is about 3/8 inch long, has two copper wings on it surrounding the steel piece in the center. This piece needs to be installed with the copper wings on each side of the wheel with the notches in it. It needs to be put in in the direction so that when the spool tries to let line, the cog catches one of those notches. Since this is the piece that causes the antireverse, my guess is that it is either in backwards, or you don't have the wings installed correctly around the wheel.

I would say that if you lived closer just pass it my way and I can fix it for you. I have fixed and repaired a few of them Abu reels. Very easy.
