Just for ****s and grins, when my wife asked for ideas for stocking stuffers, I told her I needed some lures. When pressed for more specifics, I told her to pick out whatever caught her eye, and we'd try it out. Call me adventurous.

On Christmas day, I open my stocking and find a huge batch of spinners! Rooster Tails, Martins, Blue Foxes, and Bang Tails of all sizes, followed by a lovely squidlike mooching hook and leader.

I guess I get to do a little more spinner fishing this year. \:\)

Body killing round trip by rail road to N. Dakota (Beulah) for my son's wedding...27 hours and 1,300 miles each way --) 0 degree weather -- Now I've got a severe case of Bronchitis thanks to RR ride!!!!!

Well you didn't say fishing related!! But what we spent would of purchased a hell of a lot of fine gear........ They even made me take my "I'd rather be Fishin" pin off of my tuxedo..... \:\)

I didn't receive anything fishing related but I did sell a lady a Garmin 188c chartplotter with a chip, her husband just got a dandy $1500 X-mas present.

Wife got me a custom made personalized Rainshadow 1143 (spinning) from Greg's Customs Rods and the promise to shuttle me anytime (morning or night) as long as it's on the Skykomish.

Hmmmmm might have to keep her!

Well I got what I usually get from that old fat man. Zero. I guess that I've been bad all year. My wife almost bought me some fleece pants but I spent the money on other fishing related things.

I got a box of Gummy Fishing Candies. In the collection, there are some nice Gummy Worms. Most of the colors won't work, but there's one nice red/clear one I'm gonna tie up and fish on the Hoh with The Reall Big One! I'll save it for the "One A Day" hole on the Hoh. You know, that one hole where it's almost a given that you'll get a fish on the that first cast....because that's how many casts a gummy worm will last!

Oh yeah, I'll video tape the experience and post it here! \:D

I guess my Koeffler, Suburban, and taimen trip will have to wait until next year! \:\(

Santa left a new Lamiglass XCF 903. \:D It's a 9 foot rod specifically made for trolling at places like Buoy 10 and Drano Lake. The stocking was stuffed with everything from cerise yarn to shrimp oil to jig hooks. It was a very good year. Now I just need the time to use them...

A Ross Canyon Big Game 7 fly reel and a big hug and squeeze which prompted some flatulence which ended up clearing the room. Sorry, I guess sometimes you have to take the good with the bad.

I've seen mention of Japanese versions of Shimano reels lately, where can you purchase these?

Mail order, web or any sporting goods stores?

Any stores tween Olympia and Bellingham carry these?

Thanx n Happy New Year!

Sincerely,
Roger

RRR,

Here are a couple of links for you, one explaining some differences between the US and Japanese versions, and another to an online store.

I actually got my reel off of ebay, if you run a search for Shimano Metanium you will normally see a few listed. The $239 for a Shimano Metanium MG is still pretty fair, I think I got mine on ebay for $200 plus shipping, brand new. It is light and smoooooooth \:\)
