On the WDFW site it mentions a guy and cohorts that are facing 120 Fish and Wildlife violations, 30 counts of trafficing in fish and wildlife, 34 commercial fishing violations fishing in closed seasons, areas. 200,00 pounds of Geouduck at a value of 1.3 million dollars was taken, along with 85,000 pound of crab. The list goes on and on. The question that i have is how in the hell did this large scale operation go undetected for so long? This happened in the Nisqually Delta area and not in the Bearing Sea in a remote part of Alaska. Kudos to enforcement but if this sh-- is going on right under their noses how many small scale operations are out there. I say hang the guy up by the balls and drop him naked into a tub full of angry crabs with a can of cat food as underwear. Someone is gonna tear up his geouduck in the the prison system. Serves him right.....

The sad part to think about is how long did the state have to watch this happen?
But thats the way our judicial system is.

It is so much simpler just to follow the rules. I mean you have to know that sooner or later you are going to get caught beathead

I am more interested in the length of sentace for these large number of violations. If the courts do not send a heavy message for these crimes then all the enforcement time, costs, an efforts are just waisted.

I have a friend over here in b-town that drives tow truck. In between calls he fishes the salt chuck around here.He was casting one night in silverdale and met a Gamie wearing night vision goggles looking for poachers digging clams and such.I wonder if the two are related?Seemed reel odd when he told me about it.

too many poachers and not enough enforcement,

I read somewhere once that there is only 1 fish and game officer in each county, 2 in spokane county and 2 in king county. can't be everywhere at once.

when the FDA approves human cloning im sure the poaching problem will be solved..

it's your responsibility to turn in the cheaters in the system.. however you won't get paid for it.. bf

Ltlcleo,

That seems real strange since dyes inlet has been listed as contaminiated for quite some time now...

any gamie in his right mind would have let them take as many as they want....

Leaves a few less yeh-hoos taking the good ones.

Problem is that those ya hoos sell those contaminated clams to restaurants right here in our city. There have been sting operations and hidden cameras recording the back door sales especially in China Town..beware of the Clam Chop Suey....Also WDFW agents have told me that Geoduck are poached using boats with holes in their bottoms so the divers can enter and exit undetected. Then there is the geoduck wasting that the tribes got busted for..dumping the big bivalves that were the wrong color and only keeping the ones that bring the highest price...of course the ones they discard overboard die. The problem is not just a bunch of hillbillies harvesting clams in the sewage outfalls at night anymore...poaching can be and is a lot more sophisticated sometimes and takes time and patience to stop. By the way..don't forget there is a cash reward for reporting a poacher.
