It was pretty slow last saturday. 3 sleds, 12 guys, 1 Steelhead and it was caught from the bank right at the launch before we had hit the water. Granted we were all using 3ft Snoopy rods, but it was still slow. One of the other guys said they spotted one other fish, that was it.

I fished the Hamilton, Birdsview Drift yesterday. I think there was about four or five sleds and I didn't hear of a single fish caught, Steelhead that is. Lots of Dolly's though. Water was in great shape first thing in the morning but by mid afternoon it takes a pretty good jump from the dam water. I'm now starting to think "their" right about the hatchery fish not showing this year. Oh well I'll be back tomorrow for one more try and will post my results.

FM 2003 -- Who'd ya book yer trip with? Have you used any different guides on the Skagit? In other words can you recommend a guide(s)

Thanx n good luck, maybe you'll tie into an early, Wild Sauk River PIG!

Sincerely,
Roger

RRR,
We went out on a trip with John Koenig of John's guide service. we went out on the 1st,and we had an absolute BLAST!! cool . We didn't catch any steelies, but it wasn't from his lack of effort. We fished hard all day,and did catch 30 plus dollies, some up around 5-6 pounds. John is a very funny guy,and had a billion funny stories, that kept us laughing all day laugh . He's a good teacher and also very patient,he's an easy guy to like. If you want a guided trip on the Skagit, Hook up with John, I highly reccomend him! beer

If anyone, and I mean ANYONE can find you some fish on the Skagit right now, it would be Rob. <img border="0" alt="[Goldfish]" title="" src="graemlins/goldfish.gif" />

Endsley knows every rock in that river, if there are any fish around he will find them.

Coho Johnny and Robbo are excellent choices for Skagit/Sauk guides. Another two that should be considered are Cal Stocking from Cause for Divorce Guide Service and Rod Bush of River Otter Guide Service.

Thanx all fer the recommendations/endorsements. Only way to choose a guide IMHO is to talk to clients.

Will be contacting them (hopefully) in the near future.

Sincerely,
Roger

My friend and I fished it hard from day break till amost dark at Rockport. Zero for Steelhead but got five or six Dolly's, two nice cuts and one sucker. Fished all the hot spots and even went all the way down to Fabers. Get this....a total of two sleds including mine on the river today, got to tell you something about how good the fishing is. Hope you do better. How about posted your results?
