OK, so why are they good from April to April? It would seem to me that they would get better info on annual fish catch to go from Jan 1 to Jan 1. No wonder they always say they don't have all the data because the catch card data is not in yet. I renewed my liscense yesterday because I need the '03 parking tag. From what the gal said, my '02 punch card is good until April and I still use that one and then the new one after that. Wouldn't it make more sense that all of this stuff is valid at the same time? It is all so confusing...... beathead beathead beathead

Steve,

As Easy pointed out, your license (fresh and saltwater) is valid until March 31, 2003. The reason they run the seasons from 4/1 to 3/31 is because the majority of steelhead fishing takes place in late winter/early spring. It used to be more complicated. You used to have to buy the actual fishing license on Jan. 1, but the steelhead punchcard you purchased for an extra $18 was valid from the same dates it is today. With punchcards being free now, it's MUCH easier just to have the license year follow the same dates.

Hopefully this cleared it up a little for you. smile

Thanks for the replies, guys, EasyLimits I suppose your saying I should read the dates on my stuff. OK, GUILTY AS CHARGED!! This having been my first year fishing here, I am catching on slowly but surely. Never did like to read directions. No, never did....
