Anyone know if the tribal nets are getting any fish. I desperately want to blame the 5 day a week gillnetting for the lack of fish upstream but I am not so sure. It's obvious what kind of an impact nets can have on a fishery but there seems to be a lack of fish everywhere not just the netted rivers. Has anyone heard anything?

I can't tell you about all of the rez, but I have'nt seen the Chehalis tribe netting yet this year. I drive and look into traditional netting holes almost every day and they have left their nets on the bank. All the plunkers that I've talked to are doing terrible. This is the worst year for steelhead on the Chehalis that I can remember.

Yeah, I drove over the bridge the other day and didn't see a net in the water.... Man, if the injuns aren't even bothering to put their nets in, then you know it must be slow.

Please folks do not be so ignorant (and I do not mean that personally or to one individual) but have you ever seen the activity under that bridge when the sun goes down or when your getting up to drive to that favorite fishing hole in the morning? I see um do it all the time on the lower Puyallup and Nisqually confused

From reading the information on the DOW web site, it reported the tribal fishing to occur 5 days a week below the power lines on the Chehalis, about 200 yards west of the mouth of the Wynoochee. Usaually they net down around the corner from that location. You cannot see it from the SR107 bridge.

Chehalis trtibe only nets in the area of there reservation, which is the Oakville - Rochester area. The tribe netting near the mouth of the nooch is the Quinalt. Thats how the quinalt work, rape all the rivers in the area of their reservation (ie. humptulips, chehalis, queets) then privtize the rivers on their rez ( ie. salmon, quinalt) and ruin them with overstocking hatchery fish.

I understand the Chehalis tribe is neting 1 day a week. Not many doing it. Tribe members plunk the other days, they can use up to 5 rods each. They said the fishing is slow!

Yeah, I was just talking about what's going on in the Rochester/Oakville area with the Chehalis Tribe, I have no idea whatsoever about the rest of the river.
