Anybody hear about a 20-foot sled that tried to launch over the weeknd at Wilsons on the Bogachiel, and ended up fishing the Quillayute?

Just because someone's stupid doen't mean that they should have property damaged or stolen.

Hey kevin You might be a little more careful of what you are saying. (does he still have a trailer) I wouldn't recommend touching anyone's stuff. Not a good idea, especially when someone with the thought process of me see's you doing it. Every action there's an opposite and equal reaction. Think before you act.

It all boils down to this - I'm right, everyone else is wrong, and anyone who disputes this is clearly a dumbfuck.

Are you guys serious? I didn't see Kevin recommend vandalizing anyone's stuff. He simply stated what's likely to happen if you go dropping a sled in the rivers around Forks.
Of course, if you want to cart your sled up there as a matter of principle, feel free. When you get back to the launch site, you'll likely see what Kevin was talking about.

I agree with glowball 100%!!!!!!!!! And drift boats come on trailers too. ( wouldnt want them damaged) I think the key here is respect for others property.

If that's the case then maybe I'll do a little experiment. Send my buddy down the river fishing in the sled and I'll wait in the bushes. Never know what I'll have clutched in my hands though.

What ever brah....... Did I ever say that I would damage anyone else property .....hmmmm No .. Just know that people around there and what has happened in the past. Better read the post again before you end up jumping down someones neck. But hey you go ahead and launch your sled and then come back and let us what ended up happening, tell ya what its not going to be a good thing. Not that I give a flying criap. Gotta love how happy everyone gets when they are not getting fishies. Have a happy day and hope you catch some so you mellow alittle.

"lighten up Francis" Does he still have a trailer The comments intent was harmless-see the little -joking as we did when Bob started the BB. Too many take things to the extreme. ya ya "hey that gives people ideas"-the idiots that vandilize peoples property like that cant even read let alone "log on" and they do deserve what they got comin. Maybe Kev meant that the rivers are coming up so much that all the launches are flooded. Or the tide came up --right Kev However, I do suggest sledding the Calawah

I'll qualify this by saying I do not live in Forks, if I did I might think differently....
I think sleds are acceptable in the Quillayute and acceptable in the tidal stretches of the Hoh below the lowest boat launch. I know a guide who occasionally takes his sled down there, I'm pretty sure he knows he's not my favorite guy in the world but I certainly wouldn't slash his tires or any such thing. There are a few guys on the Quill that have backyard launches who I see from time to time...
I'll bet Bob can actually empathize with Kevin's comment having had his tires slashed in the past...
Seemed more like a warning than a threat to me.

Oh boy! I'm laughing at the mistaken seriousness of a funny, funny response to an inquisitive question.
Methinks there are those taking things far to serious. Lighten up!
The response to me simply says, sleds are not well received......where's the surprise in that?

No wonder there's so many freakin sleds on the Puget Sound rivers Atleast the locals down there stand up for their rivers. Stil takes a small man to slash a tire though We dont need another sled/bankie flame, im just a little bitter when it comes to sleds. Tired of being corked and white washed, its all good though, right??

I understand the whole no sled thing on the peninsula and agree with it. But I don't agree with someone damaging other fishermans property. Regardless of the reason.
Kevin i apologize about jumping down your neck. I took your comment the wrong way. I just have no patience for vandals. Glow

Just don't put a sled in a Forks-area river and the whole discussion is moot Still tell the story of the one I saw cut into 50+ pieces every day to all my new folks!

it seems like the sleds dominate the larger rivers (Skagit, Cowlitz, NF Lewis), bankies have all of small streams and the drift boats have the Oly Pen and the c n r rivers when open. Been that way for years and I think it works well

What the hell? I never seen one word from Kevin saying anything about destroying anyones trailer! JimH- who is the stupid one? your the one that cant read! I didnt see anything about damage or stolen property! Glo ball where are you getting this idea? I say hide in the bushes and I certainly dont want to see what your clutching in your hand you should do that at home! Public nudity can get you a ticket And if it was a gun your talking about I would say that might be a threat which might have some jail time involved in that.. And last but not least Duraboat15 if your drift boat trailer looks like a sled trailer I feel sorry for you!!! I say to all that wants to take there sled to forks area be my guest but make sure your insurance is paid up! you will need to make a claim by days end.. TM

Nothing to do with sleds on the pen rivers. I fish the Skagit mainly and fish from the bank, use a sled, float the river with a pontoon boat. I rarely have any problems fishing with any of the above methods. Once in a while some bonehead in a sled or drift boat will get to close but very rare. Most guys respect your water. During eagle watching season you might get some city folks floating down that don't understand the river and they will float over your water but that is even rare. The only vandalism I have come across was theft. Had my truck broken into once. If I came across someone busting up my trailer would I shoot them? No. I would call the sheriff.

Timber Man, Dont feel sorry for me. Having hauled a drift boat from southern oregon to Auburn on my bunk trailer (not drift boat trailer) with no problems or adjustments to the trailer I know it can be done. Saw someone putting there drift boat on a utillity trailer last weekend on the cowlitz they just tied it to the flat plywood deck.

Geez, I own a bike AND a sled. Guess I can't spend any money in Forks. Too bad 'cause I was seriously thinking about going on some guided trips out there, but this thread sure makes me feel unwelcomed.

Is it tough to fish from a bike. Must have big tires. Everyone needs to chill out.

Pickled Herring, Minibear, the intent on my post was to say"When in Rome, do as the Romans do!" People live in certain places because they identify with the community there, and probably like the area. Vandalism is a crime, and is not limited to only certain types of property. I respect people who seek transportation on motorcycles, boats, cars etc. If you are a victim report it. I guess all I'm trying say is respect the local customs, and the locals will respect you!!!! Try to blend in!
