Just thought I would share an experiance with you guys. Last April I was doing some golfing at a local golf course called Brookdale. There is a little creek that flows through it I believe it is called Clover creek? I was crolling the bridge on the 8th hole and noticed about 5 or 6 wakes going upstream. Me being way more interested in the fish activity than the people waiting on the tee box behind us I told them to play through while I investigated what was going on. As I got closer I realized these were steelhead. I thought that was pretty cool and for those of you who live in that area and realize how many backyards this stream flows through you'll think this was pretty cool also. I love to hike into some of my favorite fisheries and go up some of the little feeder streams and see salmon/steelhead engaging in there spawning rituals.
I think everybody should have an oppurtunity to witness something like this. thumbs

Their journey up that creek is amazing considering they have to go up Chambers Creek, through Lake Steilcoom and navigate a gauntlet of culverts to get up there. A few Silvers also make that same journey. smile

Are you sure they were steelhead? If so, that is really cool. The reason I ask is because the local TU chapter has been bragging for a couple years that they've reintroduced salmon into that creek and have seen them up to the golf course.

Unless I've got my creeks and golf courses screwed up.

But salmon or steelhead, that's a great thing and kind of shows the resiliency of those great fish. thumbs

Unless of course they were chum, which I think can walk across a road and spawn in a mud puddle. Amazing where you can find those fish. eek

That is amazing, that creek runs right by my parking lot for work....hmm lunch breaks. Ive never seen ANYTHING swimming in there, except right after they plant the small pond on base (McChord) that spills into clover. They do stock brooder rainbows in the pond, you sure it wasnt them? Ill start keeping an eye out for those wakes come April.

Ah yes, the Brookdale bounce. I haven't been there in a while. Maybe I'll check my regs and if things look good I'll pull my ball retriever and replace it with my Popeil PocketFisherman. Just in case things get slow on the back side.

Oh well, there goes another zipper course. frown

Coho,
Its already been done. wink

All the old timers out there sure had a laugh when I came back the next morning wearing my fishing vest and polorized glasses. cool

what sucks was over the summer they decided to take a back hoe and dredge the bottom of some of the creek bed. I am not sure how long it takes for eggs to hatch but hopefully they didnt spawn in any of these spots. frown

Yeah I can see it now...
Numbers of Golfers carrying fishing poles in their golfbags is on the rise.

Numbers of fisherman carrying ball retrievers is on the rise.

See all you golfers out there will never just walk over the bridge anymore without looking will ya? fishy
