With the increasing number of natives in the rivers, what are the better fishing methods to catch hatchery steelies but not hurt the nates?
I do know not to use diver n' shrimp but wonder what else I could try behind a diver. A pink worm?
Does it come down to mostly a driftfishing or jig technique? Driftfishing with eggs or shrimp ok?
What do most use when they know natives are in the river? I fish by myself alot so plugging doesn't sound as productive from my driftboat.

In my experience, nates will chase anything hatchery fish will and more, and farther. I usually use float/jig when the water's below 45 degrees and metal or flies when above. Rarely do I foul hook one. I'd stay away from bait and even plastic worms if there are a lot of nates around; they're more prone to being swallowed and they're just not necessary.
