I know that no one likes to give away their secret egg cures, but i was wondering if anyone out there has any tips, tricks, or special cures that they wouldnt mind letting me know. I've heard about a cure where you use an ingredient that is used in film or film developing.

Sturgio, I've heard of a pretty good cure, its called the "tell'emgonnahavetokill'em" cure. Speaks for itself. I am a big salt/sugar pro - cure guy. Jello cures are common, shrimp scents for some people, some like a natural color, more orangish, others a pinkish purple. The best way is to just play around and find one you have confidence in. "Chron Jr." style. Good luck. Hope this helps.

philpac, must have been on the river the same day I was, I seen a guy, must have been sturgio, scraping up the single out eggs, he was talking to his dad about boiling the eggs in salt water, enough to float a chicken egg, to make some singles better than "Balls of Fire". Sturgio, clean it up bud.

Do a search on this BB and you'l likely find alot of good recipes for egg cures. My favorite is Scott Amerman's salmon cure in red. You can find it on the IFISH BB at http://www.ifish.net/amer.html Also, Bob's cure in the "Tips" section of this BB is a good one. It's a wet cure using salt/sugar/borax/Pro-glow dye. It takes some practice to get the eggs just the right color and consistency but it's a very good cure. Good luck.

STEELHEAD CURE split the skein lengthwise sprinkle a LITTLE bit of orange jello on them let sit on counter for 15 minutes pour borax on skein, rolling them over your hand to get it into all the folds of all the eggs put in ziplock bag with more borax and fluff put in fridge fluff once or twice a day for 4 days freeze or take fishing
PS, the film thing you are describing involves nitrites. Salmon love 'em, steelies don't.
