when scent is applied to a marabou jig, the feathers end up clumped together and somewhat clumpy, greatly reducing the action of the bait...what is the best way to apply scent to your jig without sacrificing the tantalizing movement of the marabou????

The last scent I purchased for Maribou Jigs was at a store called the Fisherman in Bellevue. The scent was powdered and I just put some of the powder in a little plastic bag with the Jig. The Fisherman is long out of business, but you might try Sportco or Outdoor Emporium and see if they carry the powder scent. It won't screw up your feathers like the oil or paste. You might also try sending the Jig maker an email to see if they know where you can purchase the powder scent. Good Luck. Mike

Just fish them without scent.

You can apply scent to the head of the jig without messing up the marabou or you can tip your jig with a small piece of prawn or a sand shrimp tail.

with scent being a natural bait, it will cause your marabou feathers to rot if any amount of juice is left on for a lenght of time.

I fish them without scent and do ok. Put some smelly jelly on the head of the jig or rub it on your line if preferred. I tried this for a while but it did not seem to increase my hook-ups.

Now tipping the jig with shrimp eek gave me a big increase in hookups as far as Salmon go. The results are still out for Steelhead.
