An out of town guide boat ignored the warning signs at the 101 ramp today and fell victim to one of the river's boulderfields.

A local guide made some bonus $$ by rowing the damaged boat through the last few rapids for the wet fella and his client.

To make matters worse, the spot rig was placed at the Bogachiel Hatchery rather than at Wilson's ...

Fortnuately, no one was hurt ... but it serves as another reminder to those unfamiliar with the nastier sections of water out this way ... be careful and you should scout your way as what appears to be the way through isn't the way to go!

There is a reason why there are very few rigs ever parked at the 101 Calawah ramp wink

This is exactly why you hire someone who is a professional in that given region. I myself and am a professional but when I decide to up there and play, I play with a local, that way I am in no way doing anything stupid to put myself or anyone else in harms way. You must respect the power of the river. I absolutely love that section of the calahwah, but you wont see me rowing it unless I am following one of the many local pros there. lots of fun and good fishing. I hope dude learned his lesson. It can happen to anyone.
Peace Superfly flog
