Well, I was going to go to Des Moines today to fish off the (half closed off) pier, only to find that it's all blocked off now.

But...

They had a whole bunch of people and heavy equipment out there working on the pier repairing the damage from the earthquake last year! It should be open again in a week or two, they said!

Since I couldn't fish off Des Moines, I was going to go down to Dash Point, but by then it was so late, I figured I wouldn't have much time left, so I just went to Redondo. Didn't catch any fish, but I did hook a *huge* dungie that turned out to be a male! Usually they let go right when they get to the top, but this one got hooked in the mouthparts, and with the help of someone with a crab ring, we were able to get it onto the dock. The water's on to boil as I speak! Overall, a good day for fishing, even without catching any fish!
