Manage A' Trois? Sparkey has obviously been using Fun5's new spellchecker.

Just what goes on down there at the Bellevue Kmart Spark? I'm gonna have to ask Pete about you.

4salt....Sorry the Al Gore joke offended you..Know any George Bush jokes?

I bet there might be a few unused (and unread) copies of Al and Tipper's new book at Value Village....I think it is #999 on the New York Times list. Look for it over by the worn out sing along with Barney books.

Seriously now, there is legislation moving forward to mandate keeping a fish in the water that you plan to release. That would be a good practice.

The tangle nets over harvested by 139% on the CR in March and I don't think they kept all those ESA listed fish in the water to release them. Those nets can and should come out of the water and there are lots of folks working hard to see that day come.

I realize its not a springer. But shouldnt make any difference.

Do you suppose the guys in the picture at the top of the page kept,or released the fish in the hero shot.

Dont get me wrong,I'm all for keeping them in the water, but maybe there is a better way of expressing your views.

As far as i know, its already required for oversize sturgeon.Might as well do it for all releases.

We are discussing apples and oranges here...

Steelhead release very very well as they have a very low mortality...most believe that to be below 10%

Chinook on the other hand do not do all that well...they fight to the death and I have seen various reports putting chinook mortality much much higher then that of steelhead. The mortality is higher when the fish is fresh from the salt and the scales are loose...

Plus these springers are netted, brought into a boat etc. etc. which puts alot more stress on them then many of the C&R tactics practiced by the vast majority of those releasing wild steelhead.

Sparkey,
You may be arguing apples and oranges. And I do see your point. But I was talking about releasing fish in general.I obviuosly wasnt arguing the facts so much as the way the remarks are presented.
People tend to listen better to what you have to say, when put in better words, other than slamming them.
No matter what, the more you handle fish of any species, the higher the mortality rate climbs.
As I said before,I'm all for leaving all fish in the water, that are to be released!!!

It all boils down to this - I'm right, everyone else is wrong, and anyone who disputes this is clearly a dumbfuck.

My first try at a photo...this is really pushing my computer skills....

Sparkey, would this qualify as a "hero shot"?

This fish was not netted, and when released shot out of my hand like a bullet.....I'm positive it died, but not by my hands.....

I think my comment regarding hero shots was a little blown out of proportion...I was using the term very loosely.

The pictures that I saw were not products of proper fish handling, especially for a fish listed under the ESA.

Yeah, but you don't REALLY want to go through life as the Marilyn Manson of fishing BB's do you?

Dont be jealous of my fanclub Dan S.! laugh wink

And that is not even funny comparing me to Marilyn Manson. Manson is pure SHOCK, does not actually believe what he rants about and is a FREAK!

I actually like to think of myself as the Jello Biafra (ex frontman of the great punk band, the Dead Kenndedys) of NW Fishing Forums.

I do believe I have some very good points to make and just like to be a little agressive with my beliefs!

...and I am not a freak!...no matter whats his butt will try to tell 'ya! wink

Psssst....Don't listen to him.....

We all know he's the Eminem of NW fishing forums. Talented, controversal, and enjoys dying his hair blonde. Like eminem, gets a lot of views...and has his share of detractors...luckily no protestors as of yet!

Just waiting for him to break out in the world free style rap competitions.... beer :p

I don't buy the high mortality ratio... You see so many fish out there with sea lion marks such as open wounds and such... Do you think them fish were fighting for their life before they got away?? Plus, if they're such a fragile fish then why do they bite and whoop your rear after all of that? Here's a great example...

If the water temps were much higher and conditions were worse then maybe...

Here's a pic of a nice native recently released, Sparkey do you see any scales missing???

This fish swam off just fine, as well as all the others in the pictures... It's all of those that wine about it that will get it shut down.... evil
