Depends on size. If of the same weight I will take the chinooks.

Tough choice.
For me, I guess it just comes down to the difference in how it felt between the times I was fishing for slabs and caught some nice silvers and the times I was fishing for hooknose and tied into a mouth-foaming brute of a king. A little hard to forget those times and not want to take another hack. Heck, my knees are still quivering.
Not to mention that first mouthful of spring chinook either. mmmmmh mmmmmh good. The frosting on the cake!

I can go either... I spend 100+ days a year on the Sound fishing for BM with gear... But nothing compares to a smoking 8 to 10# Silver on a 5wt or 6wt!
I'm Elkrun on this one...

Coho do more damage after you get them in the boat. I love that "coho death roll" they do.

I've caught some big Coho but when that 40lb King takes it to the bottom and sets on it, then when you get him up and he sees the boat and goes airborne ....... I guess if the Kings aren't biting I'd take a Coho. herm p.s. imho on med. rod and 12lb. test nothin is more spectacular than a "hot" chum.

What about humpies? They are the toughest little salmon around.

LIke said above, you get a hog that heads straight for the bottome in 200 ft of water and then races you back to the top and becomes airborn.... hard to beat. Pinks fight like a wet sock

But an 18 pound Coho screaming across the top of the water and then going 4 feet vertical cannot be beat!
