From what I know N.S.I.A is a very well represented group of Businesses owned and operated by anglers like you and me who serve both fisherman and sportfishing by pushing for equal fishing opportunity. Their members are the guys who show up at NOF meetings, lobby towards sensible fisheries management throughout the year, and fight for our rights to fish against commercial and tribal interests.

Their message is pretty clear.

They want the WDFW to recognize the local economic opportunity and economic impacts of their managment decisions.

We all know how important fishing is to everyone. Commercial fishing puts seafood in the supermarket, Tribes have their rights to fish to fuel their economuy and feed thier families, and anglers who spend hundreds of millions a year trying to cracker some chrome. N.S.I.A helps themselves and anglers by protecting fishing opportunity.

An arguement would be that they are protecting their interests as business owners, but who would'nt?

My only knowledge of them comes from what I have read..........and I like what I have read! There are so many internal politics in sportfishing groups today that it turns me off and makes me want to steer clear of the whole mess. But the N.S.I.A seems to have a pretty clear and simple agenda.......protect our right to sportfish. Period.

Aunty M-I'm the Pabst Blue Ribbon fishing guide and a member of NSIA. You are showing a very narrow window of NSIA's stances. All interests are allowed to come to the table to work on issues. So from time to time we have to work together on certain things. But believe me NSIA is definatley a sportfishing advocate. We have lobbyists in both Salem and Olympia. NSIA is made up of tackle manufacturers, retailers, guides, gas stations, and sportsman just to name a few. We all work to keep the fisherys open for all anglers. The work NSIA did to get these sprihg chinook fin clipped has helped to increase angling oppertunity along the Columbia river. I hope this helps-Eric

Boater,

Fishing interests get clobbered by the anti-fish interests (hydro-developers, big ag. Cattlemans Association, etc.).

I'm glad to see fishing dependant voices organized to promote fish and fishing - it's desperately needed.

I agree with NSIA probably 90% of the time, I can live with disagreeing the other ten percent.

By forming coalitions around issues and actions they are much more effective an organization than say - Rec.Fish Alliance whose motto seems to be 'If you're not with us, you're the enemy'.

You asked for opinions, that's just mine.
