Was wondering if anyone knows any good areas for halibut around seattle/tacoma area...or even up to everett? This will be my first year fishing for 'em and I have been doing my home work on technique, Just don't really know where to go...

Pretty few and far between this side of PA, I think most caught in Puget Sound are caught by accident by either salmon or bottom fisherman.

I've gotten a few, incindentially, off the south tip of Whidbey, on the west side of the bar. You'd probably want to get up near Bush Point or so to target them for a better chance.

Spawnout, can you send me the link. All I can find is the maps for salmon. The only thing I can find for halibut is the page that says "As halibut season approaches, we'll expand this section greatly, and give you the where/when/how's of how to catch these delicious fish."... And a few snippets on the reports page...

Sounds like I should just head south of the narrows and do salmon and lings

Ya have to look around the site a little JD, go to the Washington region and click on the areas in the map to find the spots. They did have more specific info on halibut but they must have taken it down, now it seems to be mixed in with the salmon but it's still there.

Hey Johnny;
Regarding Race Rocks, check here for reports
http://www.fishingvictoria.com/

A good place to access Race Rocks from is Pedder Bay. You can rent 15 - 17' Hourstons with 40 hp for less than $200 cdn per day! Part of the OBMG. A great way to get on the Strait if you don't have a boat (and can speak Canadian, eh wink )
