Hit Southworth tuesday afternoon / evening with Rick68 with not a whole lot to report. Rick picked up one 7lb BM and that was the only strike of the day. Marked some pretty good bait balls and surprisingly marked some fish suspended from 30 to 60 feet. Summer Kings already?? Don't know. The 7lber for Rick came at 150 feet, bouncing bottom with a Hootchie with Downriggin's modification tips (Thanks DR) behind a green / glo flasher.

Saw one other boat out there mooching and he said he had picked up a couple shakers and that was it!

It's only going to get better!

We hit it this morning and got two blackmouth in about an hour on consecutive passes, both up in the water column at 65 and 75 in about 115 feet of water. They were smaller 5 and 6 lbs, but better than nothing. Surprisingly I marked very little bait and few fish too. Was definatly a bite on at the same time we got ours 2 other boats hooked up. about the time we got our second the wind tripled in force and we had to go in, very wet ride in my little boat. Picked up 5 nice dungees too.

NEN cool

Sky-guy,
Do a post search, key word "Hootchie" on the Northwest Fishing Board forum and then open the post titled "KEV... Your Hootcy Pics". The hookup we had was the pic titled " 4 3/4" Hootchy with glo skirt" with a little shrimp oil on it.

NEN, what was the hot bait this morning?

Hey Um,
we got one on a GSbucktail with glo green flasher, the other on a 4 inch cop car coyote w/ red flasher. Really wish I could have stuck it out and tried for a while longer, but that wind was nasty. eek We'll hook up out there sometime for sure.

NEN,
I'd say you made the right choice getting out of there when you did. My buddy Rick68 stayed out there and said the wind never let up and the bite never turned back on. He said it was pretty nasty out there. I'll be out there again on Sunday, hitting Hood Canal on Saturday for some Dungee's and Rock Fish. That Bucktail was my hot bait last summer, caught more Kings on that then anything else.

If you ever see a Smokercraft Tracer w/ Big Jon Downriggers out there say "Hey"

UMRules, Glad to see you and Rick got a fish. Have you been in Ricks boat or yours? Keep the post coming, as it's the only good news we're getting out here. Man, I'm going thru some serious salmon fishing withdrawals. 72 more days. Looks like I'll fly out of your old duty station. Keep the reports coming and good luck out there. BTW, Mrs. CohoMojo sent me three jars of my canned Nookie, so Downriggin and I crack a jar this evening. thumbs

DD,
We were out in Rick's boat and he got to put first blood in it himself! We are taking Rick's again Sunday as Directional Finder will be with us. Tried to get the Walrus to go as well and then I would take my boat also, but you kmow how that goes......"It's not the same as the Columbia" Anyway... I'll give you a report on Sunday.

Little Dangerous David hooked us up with some baby sitting for the concert last week and says he's ready for some fishing. Rick and I will make sure he get's out there. We would take him Sunday but I think he and Mom are going to Oregon.

72 and counting....gotta love that. Your flies for Hi-Hium will be done upon arrival! Do you have any Mahi reports to post??

Tell DR I said Hi, Talk at ya later.

UM
