I fished off of Redondo this afternoon. For two hours worth of work I hauled in four crab and a seven pound blackmouth.

Makes for a crowded livewell. smile

Could you share what bait is best to use in crab traps? I generally use a salmon head. I have dropped my trap about ten times in Quarter Master Harbor and am yet to get a keeper crab. Thanks

Hey Easy,

Is that Yamaha 15 a four stroke?

If so, how much do you think it weighs, and is it pretty easy to take on and off of your boat? (assuming that you do)

I'm looking into buying one so I'm curious. Thanks. smile

MaxMad - Redondo is between Des Moines and Federal Way.

4Salt - The motor weighs about 120#'s. I leave the motor locked on to the boat. It is a little more weight than most people would want to have to deal with on a regular basis. That is of course unless you are a big strapping buck like myself. laugh

Thanks Easy, I thought it looked a little big to be hoistin' around! The reason I asked is because I have a 12' skiff and a 25' travel trailer for the wife. I cant' tow both, but the boat fits in the bed of my truck.

I've heard that the new Yamaha 2 stroke 15's are the [Bleeeeep!] also, and are probably a WHOLE lot lighter.

I used to be able to lift quite a bit of weight in my younger days, but now I'm relegated to the 12 oz. curl! laugh laugh

You might have some luck right off the pier at Redondo. If it were me, I'd get one of those castable crab snares/traps, go to Redondo and cast from shore at the SW end of the beach/boardwalk (in the general area of the mooring buoys).

BTW - Nice haul Easy.

KNS - the Redondo pier will work for ya. You may also try the pier down on the Ruston Way waterfront in Tacoma.
