Can you say 15 ton summer project? Saturday morning a few neighbors were woken up early when these dropped in.

I am framing some gardens and building a 70 foot retaining wall.

what do you guys have on the list that will keep you from fishing?

I was home this last weekend doing yardwork for two days. It was a "subtle request" from my wife that I stay home and participate.

Had to cancel out a combo shad and sturgeon trip over below one of the dams.

I didn't whine... but I thought it.

Wow, that brings back nightmares. My first and last home improvement project (6 years ago) was regrading my back yard and building a rock wall.

I only had 5 tons of rock, but manually wheel barrowed it all to the the back yard and built the wall and moved hundreds of wheel barrows of dirt around, all by hand. I had to replace the axel on my wheel barrow when I was done.

It will probably be several more years before the memory has faded enough to tackle another project.

I think I'd be renting a mini excavator to build your retaining wall and gardens. The $300 pain in your wallet will heal quicker than the pain in your back after moving 15 tons of landscape rock.

My anti-cracker:

There seems to always be another site update needed ASAP. Oh, well, web development may be time consuming, but it pays the bills.

Building a new deck and re-staining the house during my vacation in July, but I think I will still have to fish that morning bite everyday!

Hey Sky-Guy, If you enjoy yourself buil;ding that wall you can put one in at my place too!! I need a 3 foot tall by 110 foot long in my back yard. Landscape company gave me an estimate of almost $11,000. Guess that'll have to wait.....too much fishing / hunting stuff to buy!!

My new girlfriend tells me that she has property on lk chelan!

I have spent a total of twelve days there now and have been lucky enough to spend mayby seven hours fishing. Her past boyfriends were not exactly "outside the window" type of guys and the place has fallen into a serios state of dis repair.I have re plumbed the trailer, put in an electric water heater.Stripped the property of grease wood and burned it and redecked the dock.

She was nice enough to volunteer my services to her sister and on the fourth of july I get to build a new deck around her cabin. The whole time her daughter has invited 10 or so people to the property for a fourth of july party which I am sure will make for more work for me!

I do not feel too bad as all I hear is that summer fishing has been slow.

my wife and i bought a house for the first time just about 2 years ago and we've done nothing but work on it since! (it was a bank repo) Here is the list as of todate: (these are all things we've done ourselef)

New roof
rewired the entire house and garage/shop
pulled carpet/refinished hardwood floors
painted house both inside and out
built fence around entire house/yard
installed new flooring in kitchen and dishwasher
built several pieces of furniture for the house
10 yards of new gravel for driveway
Some new plumbing under the house
And don't forget the yard work/landscapeing that is still going on (i have also replaced the axel on my wheelbarow)

For this summer:
Remodel the bathroom
finish a small fish pond/water garden
redo the deck

And in my spare time i've managed to start a 16 foot power dory for fishing the sound that is now about 1/2 way done.

I look forward to haveing the last of these projects finished and spend some quality time fishing this fall. laugh

So i can relate to everyone that has those projects that eat into that valuable fishing time!

Re-siding and painting the house. A lot of work, but I should save about 8 grand by doing it myself.

Sounds like I am not the only one, Phew!

Umrules- You know us pure-blooded Irish love to build rock walls laugh , but I think I will have drank my fill after I get done with this pile.

Luckily I dont have to move them very far since most the work is right behind where the pile sits.

On the bright side, once I get all this done the fishing will be much more enjoyable!

If anyone has re-roofing on the summer honey-do list... give me a call. I wont hurt your wallet as much as the rest and it will get you off the ladder and back to fishing fishy

Chappy,
after my roofing experience i wish i HAD paid someone else to do it (though at the time we didn't have the money to pay someone else, just enough for materials) That is one project i will NEVER DO AGAIN! I have a new respect for roofers!
