I have been fishing the Kalama and Toutle river for summer run steelies with good success. I was wondering if anyone out there know if the Wynoochie has a decent run of summer steelies. I fish the Nooch alot in the winter and know it well. I know the Nooch is one of those tight lip rivers fisherman don't like to talk about, I am not asking for anyones secret hole just general info about the size of the summer run.

Addict - You may want to check the smolt plant & Catch statistics at the Department of Fish & Wildlife. Try this link: http://www.wa.gov/wdfw/fish/harvest/harvest.htm

Thanks guys

I'll give it a try soon. I am trying to cut down on placing so many miles on my vehicles. With gas prices being so high I figure money saved on gas is MORE money for fsihing gear!!! I'll let you know how I did.

Really slow, don't plan on floating it. You can walk across it and not get your pant legs wet.

Just curious as to why the Nisqually is listed on the WFW site?

Is the Nisqually a total loss? I have tried for over two months to pull ANYTHING out the water near the train trestle outside of Olympia.

Any tips< suggestions better location on the Niqually?

Thanks In Advance for any advice

Paul

Tall Jeeper - A little early yet for the Nasty. The Nisqually has a good run of king salmon that will probably begin in mid to late August. Stay tuned to this board for timing. The Nasty has a great run of late chums - December and January. Used to be one of the premier steelhead streams for spring steelhead. Unfortunately, poor management, tribal harvest, and sportsman harvest really hurt the river. Hang in there, good times are coming!

the nisqually usually starts to heat up in mid august for kings, the later for silvers. should be alright fishing for trout right now, just try a worm or a spinner

i can actually remember when people were quiet about that river, before the big flood happened and the riprap was put in on the handicap side. before that, it was a jungle of bushes and hollows where you could fish. whenever my dad would hook a fish he'd get as far back into one of those hollows as he could so nobody could see what he was doing...even to this day he's a sneaky one when playing a fish, and not one to let out his honey holes

The Nooch has been slow above, but some fish have been caught down low.
