I just happed into my first drift boat, and I'm looking for floats on the Peninsula or N Sound that would be good to start with. I've done some whitewater in the past and have a solid understanding of boat safety and reading water- just want to make sure I don't get into anything too hairy before I have more experience under my belt. I've taken the boat out on the lower Stilly to get a feel for pulling the oars and how she handles- 16' wood boat. Anyone have some advice on a few floats? Any help appreciated, next beer on me cool

The Skykomish from Sultan to Monroe or Sultan to Ben Howard is pretty easy. The Skagit from Marblemount to Sutter Creek or Marblemount to Rockport is also pretty easy. There is one spot above Sutter Creek where the river splits that can take a little manuevering depending on water levels. I don't think it's anything that will sink you, but it could put some dings in your boat. Sutter Creek to Marblemount is a short float but easy. It's a good one if you only want to fish a few hours.
