Hey all, I am moving to Alaska this fall and will be working in North Anchorage. I am looking to buy a home but have never been there. Would love a place not too far from the good fishing rivers and not too far from where I work. Anyone been up there enough to help me out.

It can get a little cold there in the wintertime.

Kinda like Michigan, but worse.

That is an awesome picture. I grew up in Michigan but never saw anything like that before.

I go from time to time. I have friends and family there. Property depends on what price range you are looking at. Rivers and good places to fish will be from an hour to 4 hours away. Russian and the Kenai are 100 miles away. AWESOME FISHING.
I can get you hooked up with some locals up there if you like. Contact me off the board If you need some assistance.
You lucky B@st@rd!!!!

Living toward the Kenai Peninsula direction of Anchorage does give you quicker access to the fishing out on the Pen there. But its really crowded fishing much of the time. I suggest you check out the northwest suburbs of town, including out toward the little town of Eagle River. If you dont mind a bit of a commute Palmer AK is a good sized nice town thats more peaceful than Anchorage. Better weather on average too, and you can grow the worlds biggest veggies in your garden. smile But the best thing is its closer proximity to the great Susitna and Glukana rivers and their fish loaded tributaries. And less crowds fish those than the ones on the Pen.
