Alumaweld, or Diamondback?

Pricewise it's almost a wash if you look at the package prices and what you get in each. So, assuming you get the same stuff for the same price, which do those of you that are knowledgeable about both prefer, and why? Rowability, durability, dealer service, warrantee, etc., all apply.

Comments on other brands, while sometimes interesting and even valid, are not requested....yeah, like saying that'll make any difference. :p

I know, it's been hashed out before and the archives were informative, but I've since seen people that have purchased some of these new putting them up for sale....I'm hoping to find out why.

Skywalker.

Where are you looking at the Diamondbacks? A dealer? They are nowhere near the price of an Alumaweld.

Both boats are good. But I would go for the Alumaweld. I feel the Alumaweld will handle more weight than the Diamondback. Meaning the Alumaweld will row easier when loaded down with 3 guys and all your gear.

I have rowed both Alumawelds and a couple Diamondbacks. Like I said both are good boats but I like Willies and Fishrites better................

Thanks for the reply! And I DO appreciate your objectivity. wink

The prices on the two have gotten a lot closer than you might think, although the Diamondback comes with a dual station heater and Coatit for a little less than the Alumiweld, similarly equipped but w/o those two features.

Why do you think the AW would row easier with a load.....bottom design, freeboard height, or...?

FWIW, I would rarely have 3 adults in it. Usually two, but usually two adults and a kid or two. I'm sticking with a 16 x 54, by the way.

It probably would spend 95% of it's life on the Sky, mostly between Sultan and Ben Howard.
