How deep are people fishing for the pinks in area 9, does it vary like kings, or are they always on top of the water?
Think I will go out tonight and try it out while waiting for the crab pots to fill up.
Thanks,

NEN cool

50 feet (actual depth, so maybe 55' on the 'riggers) is THE magic depth at Posession and Humpy Hollow!

Don't forget your #0 white dodger, 20" leader to a pink mini-squid, and to troll slowly.

Just don't tell anybody else though... laugh laugh

We tried a small pink Vibrax spinner on ultra light gear in '01. Had a blast...

I target the top 60' for pinks and silvers. 35' to 45' down on a longer line doin' a slower troll than silvers usually like. But my fave is casting and retreiving smaller (tide determines size) pink pearl BB's in the rips: drifting with the tide I quarter cast ahead with the tide and retrieive on the backside quarter (can be good for a surprise silver every now and then too). Of course there's no surprise that they take B-bombs on the drop , but surprisingly pink will even hit on the retreive, even fairly quick if you just stop cranking every so often. I prefer this method because you can use fairly light spinning tackle which will make a pink hook up less "pink" and more fun. Never had alot of luck with pinks off the beach or close in like silvers, but they both seem to like the rips around these parts. And speaking of rips, "ripping lips" with pinks is not advisable as their mouths are pretty soft. I usually bleed them quick so their flesh doesn't get any softer too, not sure if it helps but it makes good sense to me.

2001 I remember them being at any depth and being able to catch them on just about anything at possesion bar, watching them chase flies and pink buzzbombs to the boat.

if there in you'll know
