I was just given a couple of downriggers by an old neighbor but when he sold his boat, the mounts went with it.
Does anybody know where I could find mounts for a Penn Fathommaster 600? or does anybody have mounts they could sell me?

If it doesn't work out with these for me, I might have to buy a couple new ones. It seems Scotty is the prefered brand but what would you reccomend?

Nothing wrong with penns! Especially if they are a gift. beer Cant think of any place right off hand down your way where you can pick up a set of bases but most anyone that sells penns sells the bases. If you insist on having something else and want to get rid of them give me a hollar. I'll gladly take them off your hands smile

doug- thank you very much. I would really appreciate it. I am just trying to get started with DRs and although I have been fishing salmon all my life, I have never tried them. I dont really want to bust out 300+ for a new DR so this solution is very beneficial for me. Thank you.

I only need one. I looked at the other downrigger he gave me and it is something called an Intruder. It looks pretty old but still works. I have no idea what the base would look like for this one but someone on here might know what it is.

Thanks for the link Fshnking. Sportco carries some Penn, but that beats thier prices by 30%.

Boy do I have some horrible memories of that off-shore release! Murphy's Law comes to mind...... I'll say one thing for it. the damm thing never released the same way twice!

I do prefer the scotty riggers, but as with most things the best ones are the free ones! Good luck with the new toys thumbs

I've had my Penn 600's for 2 years now and have not had a single problem. They've been modified to 48" booms (the original 24" boom put the wire too close to the kicker) and swivel mounts (allows me to swing them inboard for travelling and when at the dock). I got the extra booms at John's Sporting Goods in Everett and the mounts at Outdoor Emporium in Seattle. Hope this helps.
