I will be heading up to Ketchikan around the 1st week of August. I was wondering if anyone has heard how the fishing is up there? I will be fishing in the salt and will be going crabbing. Any reports on Salmon? silvers or Kings. or anyother kind besides humpys, ling's, yellow eye and halibut along with king crab. Any information would be greatly appreciated. laugh

We are thinking of going on a River one day while we are there and chase some Kings! Anyone know of a good river guide in the Ketchikan are? Website or email or phone numbers would be great! If I am correct Bob is not around the area to guide.

I could very well be wrong about this (it happens all the time), but I don't think there are any rivers with substantial Chinook runs in the immediate area. Most of the local streams have predominately pink and chum runs.

There is some good king fishing out in Clarence Strait and on the coast, west of K-town, though. I think most of those fish are headed to the Skeena River in BC and other points south.

I'll be there just a couple of days ahead of you. Kind of between runs. They have a hatchery run of kings out South of town but will probably be over by now. Silvers don't really start until Sept unless you are going way out. And correct, not much for river fishing there. About the only thing there might be are pinks and then always halibut.

You're many hundreds of miles from Bob's neck of the woods if you're in S.E., but it's not too far by float plane from Bob Gray's stomping grounds. Look for B Gray on this forum and check out his profile. He works out of the Craig area, west of K-town. They getting some monster kings right now, or last week anyway.
