I don't have a boat, but really enjoy salmon fishing from shore. I see so many reports here about people using boats w/downriggers to fish for kings & silvers, but no reports of people fishing from shore for those species. Right now I fish for chums & pinks because they seem easier to catch from shore than the more prized species. Is it possible to catch kings & silvers from shore and if so how and where? Thanks for any info.

There are a few spots I know of....

The beach at sekiu puts out kings and silvers.

Ediz hook in Port Angeles does too.

I think the jetty at Sekiu also has a few.

There will be plenty of spots on the Snohomish in Sept/Oct. Around the sewer plant and near Lowell/Everett are two spots that are popular. No secrets or privacy here, but should be plenty of fish.

Marrowstone Pt. and Pt. Wilson in the Port Townsend area are wonderful beach fishing spots, Pt. No Pt. also can be fished from the beach.

Thanks for the suggestion of locations. What gear is best to use for shore fishing for kings & silvers? For pinks, I use buzz bombs (all hooked in the mouth) at Deception Pass. Will bbombs work for kings & silvers?

There are lots of places to fish for salmon from the beach. To find places try poking around some flyfishing sites like www.waflyfishing.com. The same beaches these guys are hitting with flies you can fish with gear.

Two of the places that I have fished on the east side are Lincolin park in West Seattle, Picnic Point in Mukilteo. These places are no secret - do some searching on your own. You don't have to go far, ecspecially if you are looking to catch resident silvers and sea run cutts.

I just got back from fishing the Hoodsport area yesterday. The best fishing I've found is north of town along the beach, caught one pink on a fly rod there. It's nice and deep there at lowtide so buzz bombs work. I would only fish buzz bombs when it is deep off of shore because there the fish bite it instead of snagging them.
