I managed to lose track of a crab trap yesterday out of Everett.
Pulled the first one and lost track of the second one. Searched for an hour for the dang thing. Boy did I feel like a fool.
Now what? What happens when it is found? Are there any penalties?

I will be heading back out tonight after work to look for it.

Guess I better buy a hand held GPS.

did you have enough rope to compensate for the tide? You might not have lost it. Someone might have taken it or ran over your rope cutting it with their prop. Check a wider area. sometimes people pull them and reset them as they are drifting. I,ve found mine up to 1/2 mile away. Good luck.

If you had your name and address on the bouy, hopefully someone will give you a call and return it to you.

I came back for mine on that big sand bar across from the Everett Marina from Tulalip last Saturday. Good thing that I marked my spot with a GPS, as the light reflecting off the water as the sun's going down can make them hard to find, especially with a little wind....

I have picked up many pots with my downriggers and have called the # if the trap/rope is in good shape.

Thanks for all the feed back. I went looking for it last night. It was very flat out, great time to be on the water. Never found the dang trap and I am sure I had enough slack in the rope. Float had my name & address on it. No phone number. But my real question is. Are there any penalties for a lost trap? Can I get fined?
