those dolfins are just amazing when they start playing in the surf! I have seen a whole school of them riding the waves near SanDiego. They were riding right along with the surfers and body boarders. Pretty cool to watch!

At second glance, it is a Dolphin, look at the horizontal tail fin.

I went to kurtjones.com....it's a dolphin. Pretty hard to tell where that tail fin is going in that shot, though.

I know I'd have a pretty serious pucker going if I was the guy on that board and couldn't tell from there what it was!

whats really funny is that picture was in last months ESPN magazine and they claimed it was a shark.

i thought it was photoshop'd when i first saw it, but it only took a minute to search google for "kurt jones photography" and answer my own question.

I've seen just that thing but only with multiple sharks, in the surf at a little place called Diego Garcia.
Thats why the Navy strictly enforced the "no swimming past the reef" rule. I believe the fine ran up to forfiture of up to two months pay if you were caught swimming on the "Ocean Side" of the reef.
