I'm planning on changing the brand of 2 stroke oil that I've been using in my 225 hp Yamaha. I have been using the Yamalube for the past 10 years with apparent good results. I was told at the time that it was the brand of 2 stroke oil that the motorcylce racers preferred. However, it has gotten pretty pricey and only available in a few places. I am thinking about changing over to Quicksilver, both being rated TC-W3. The Quiksilver is about $13 cheaper (2 1/2 gal) and much more readily available. Has anyone had bad experience with the Quicksilver or had any problems with mixing the two together? I plan on running my oil tank (injection system) as low as possible before adding the new oil.
Thanks for any insight .

DW, Quicksilver is what I run in my motors. They are both Mercs. As far as changing brands,
I'd just call the boys up at 3 Rivers Marine and ask them. They are the ones I always call first. They are very helpfull and nice people.
Myself, I don't think it will hurt a thing to have a little of the oil mixed.

I've used quiksilver and lubrimatic over the years, never worried about mixing them, never had any issues. I usually use quiksilver now. I have an injection system.

Costco has got some great sythetic oil for $11.99 a GAL. Good stuff, smokes less... I am just switching over to it. Never really gave it much thought. Just started using it when I top off...
