More people than I've ever seen there during the week, mostly snaggers...

Few fish, but they like eggs... wink

I won't even bother on the weekends... flog

i fished the skok today i started fishing at about 5:30am and went 13/20 lots of fish and they sure eat up eggs good. all fish were hooked at the first gravel bar below the bridge. The crowds have seemed to kind of die off, not as bad as say a week ago
id seriously give it a try this weekend. If i didnt have to work thats where i would be.

WAR FISHING AT ITS BEST. ALL THE BLOOD ALL THE GORE ALL THE POLITICS AND ALL THE GLORY. BUT REMEMBER WAR IS UGLY. DEFINITELY BRING YOUR HEAD PHONES AND I RECOMMEND EITHER SLAYER'S LIVE DOUBLE DISK DECADE OF AGRESSION OR IF YOU ARE MORE INTO R&B THEN GO FOR NWA, A LOT OF THE LINGO ON THAT CD COULD BE TRANSFORMED INTO THE LOGIC AND STANDARDS GOINGON DOWN ON THE FRONT LINES OF THE SKOK. I ALMOST FORGOT ABOUT THE SPURADIC BATTLES GOING ON AT HOODSPORT, AND UP 101 YOU CAN GET INTO SOME SERIOUS FIGHTING AT THE QUILICENE. BE CAREFUL ALL TREBBLE HOOKS CAN SURE LEAVE A MARK.

Is it legal to fish with bait, or is it treble hooks and lead only?

Stop crying and leave those Indian kids alone.
They have the right to fish that way.
You be doing it yourself if there ain't a law stopping you.

I've been down there fishing with you pathetic loosers, setting the hook 4 to 5 times per drift and not hitting chit.

You know who you are; you sore loosers.
Real fisherman who actually catch fish are having too much fun to be stressing out on the native kids.

You hate the Skok kids, yet you make your casts where ever they show you a school.

Learn to fish or pick up a new sport you low life piece of chit.

For such a scholar you contradict your self a lot. " I have fished down there with you guys setting the hook 4-5 times and not getting chit" " You pathetic losers learn how to fish" Sound to me like you like to bend over on the same train as the people you're knocking. Or hold on maybe you are feeling sticks hitting your gob of eggs and setting the hook to supposed agressive biters. I didn't know native kids were in their upper 20's and 30's but hey its a free country no pun intended so generalize and group individuals how ever you like. You know who people are wow is that some kind of scare tactic are you the knower of all and the thunder bringer on those who deserve the wrath of skokomish politically correct guy. Maybe you should move out of tacoma and become a member of the tribe and really start laying the smack down. Hell by the tone of your post I wouldn't doubt you starting a war out there.

I beg to differ Iron Head. I used to fish the Skok alot in the 70's/80's. I too caught alot of fish IN THE MOUTH. But, it's funny how many of those kids on the other bank would cast towards your line and snag up your fish. I'm sorry, but my 12# test is no match for test line they're using.

So, it's not just the flossers/snaggers *****ing. I've caught more then my share using eggs floated through the hole, or using sandshrimp. All mine were solid hooksets, and no, I didn't do a "yank ever 5 seconds" either. But you can't compete. I lost 3 kings in a row thanks to the kids on the other side of the bank. That's about the same time I gave up on the place. The only thing I can say is they were nice enough to give me my gear back. But my hooks were in the mouth, the guys on the high bank had their 5/0 weighted trebles in the back.

You all make some valid points concerning our native American friends. As far as I am concerned no one (American citizen's) should have the "right" to snag fish with treble hooks and for that matter net with gill nets either on in land river systems. I really don't care about what someone considers that right due to heritage or what ever. We are all Americans and should have the same rights or privledges. Until the federal gov. gets with the program and understands that treaties written 100 years ago don't apply today then it will alway be like this. Hell, you are either an American or you are not. I think that this differenciation of types of Americans is sad. I find it amazing that 90% of fisherman or citizen are absolutely against mass netting in rivers or snagging but nothing ever happens with it. Something to think about.

Dustoff,
Where did you get your info that the 100 year old treaties dont apply today?? Not saying that I am for or against the treaties. But I have read some of them and have never seen a time limit in the ones I have read.

Duraboat, I guess what I was eluding to was not in the chronological sense but in theory and in the practical sense. Thanks, for helping me out on that one.

Wow! I think I should start fishing some different waters. Everytime either blue creek or the Skok comes up as a topic, people tend to forget the intent of the post. I just want to catch a fish "The Legal Way".

Steelheader,
Thanks for the grammer check.
I am glad you understand what I am trying to say. No contradiction here, just the truth.

Again,
If you don't like seeing weighted trebble hooks, then go elsewhere.
I totally against snagging fish.
I don't even like fishing on opposite bank with other people.
I am just trying to remind the whiners that the Skokomish Tribe have the right to use this method of fishing and I am very thankful for the opportunity to utilize half of their river.

If you red neck, inbred, hill billys don't have the heart to understand, then the hell with you.

Have a nice day.

I thought I heard from someone that a bunch of native americans got caught fishing that method a week or so ago and were arrested. I dont think its legal for us, them, or anyone else.

Sorry Ironhead, I just so happen to be one of those college educated hillbillys, with a major in Science. Sorry, I'm so ignorant for you, but there's alot more to say then "go away", or it's their fish. But that's another history lesson in itself. But, before you start spouting off, look what I said, before you say "again". I do believe we are in 2003, correct? Hmmmm, I said last time I fished it was in the 80's, correct. Last time being, when the kid snagged up 3 of my fish. Hmmmmm, sounds like I didn't like it and left. Interesting what reading can do for you. I assume you were excluding me, but kind of a smart alec remark, so could've been construed either way. But all that are on here are not simply redneck/hillbillys. Hmmmm, I knew hillbillys, and they were from the Kentucky area. Doesn't look like Kentucky here. But, sounds like you're a troller anyways. Looks like you like flaming up posts. Your responses speak for themselves. Love seeing remarks like that. We all can agree to disagree. But please read what someone posts before you spout off. And, if the I remember my history and treaties, they have to fish by traditional methods. I do believe when they have a rod/reel in hand, they have to use legal setups. A big 5/0 treble weighted on the bottom isn't legal.
