Anyone ever camp in Sooke? I want to take my boat across and find a nice place to camp with the family. Is there a place that anyone knows of near moorage? Is Sooke much of a town? It would only be a 45 minute run in the boat so I'd like to give it a try. Oh, and how would it work with customs landing in Sooke?

Thanks for any input.

See if you can find a Waggoners Cruising Guide at Most West Marine stores. It has all of this info of most areas and what is available and the info for getting ahold of customs. I have not done this yet, but am really looking forward to it someday. Good Luck

There's a really nice provincial park and several other campgrounds west of Sooke towards Port Renfrew. I've stayed there several times and fished out of Sooke. It was great. The only problem is they take reservations and you might have a hard time getting in.
When are you going. I was going to leave this am for a trip there but delayed it for 24 hours due to gales in the straits this am and forecast for most of the day. I plan to run over in my boat and stay at Sooke Harbor Marina. There's also a resort called Sunny Shore Marina which has camping and moorage.
The fishing for kings has been great there the last week.
