A few of you have the had the pleasure of meeting my son, Joshua. He is confined (if you can call it that) to a wheelchair, due to the condition Osteogenesis Imperfecta, most people just call it 'brittle bone disease'...

I've mentioned it here a time or two before....

A few months ago while channel surfing I ran across a show entitled 'Children of Glass' which is by far the most comprehensive, interesting and inspiring look at this underpublicized condition afflicting more than 1 million people in the US alone.

If you are at all interested please check it out:

The Discovery Documentary "Children of Glass" re-airs this week If you missed it the first time around, Great North Production's one-hour documentary about OI will air again this week on the Discovery Health channel. It airs at 10 p.m. EST Wednesday, Sept. 3, and at 1 and 5 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 4.

I'll have to check that out! It should be interesting. One of these days I'll actually meet you GF and son.

On a side not we will have to put the hurts on some fish soon... Fall rains are coming, I hope...

Thanks for the heads up!

I took the time to watch this tonight, and I was impressed by the strength of the families, and especially the children who were featured in the program.

Sometimes we all need a reality check as to how big our own problems really are, or aren't. Thank you for providing that for me by making me aware of this.

Our oldest son had some relatively minor medical issues when he was only hours old, and then again when he was almost two years old. I remember the pain, anguish and concern that we went through everytime there was a surgery. Thankfully we only had to endure three of those. I can't even begin to imagine the strain your family as undergone. Looking back, Hunter was the strongest of us all, getting on with life as quickly as he could.

My family and I wish Joshua, you, and your family all the best in your journey.

Thanks again,

Andy

P.S. I don't know if you have a boat or not, but if you ever want to hit a river in my area, I'd be happy to have you as a guest on mine.

Wish you and your family the best!! I have a friend who is a Physicians Assistant in the orthopedics dept at Childrens in Seattle, don't know how she has the strength to see all those hurting kids each day but she loves them and is great at her job. Gives a little perspective to life and what is important.
