"but count yourself unlucky if you ever have to utilize the Bailey's warranty as these waders have a near perfect track record.."

Ryan's correct. I've used my B's for almost 10 years of hard fishing in Southern Oregon. They've finally worn to the point (fabric will start to loose it's omph) and allow water to seep through in a few spots. Not a hole as such, just the material said 'enough already.'

But, to put the term 'leak' into context, you fish all day and you'll have a damp - not wet - spot an inch or so around. The only 'down side' is if you have to do a lot of 'bush-wacking' to get to the river the material is not that heavy. But this is part of what makes them a grand product. One of your boots will weight in more than the waders.

I took Sparky - aka Ryan's - advice last spring and bought Bailey's. I should have bought those long ago, but I had so many old neoprenes in good shape that I couldn't justify it. I lived in the Bailey's and a pair of Patagonia wading shoes last week, and have never, ever, fished more comfortably in my life! Thanks, Ryan!

Sincerely,

Salmo g.

I cast my vote for the Bailey's as well. i couldn't make myself spend the $$ for the simms. (and we all know what I make now... laugh ) Seriously though, they are great. I really like the fit, they are tough, and the built in belt feature is nice. I think they complement my figure quite well, while the simms made my thighs look big. laugh

I used Hodgmans, but they began leaking at the ankle seams after about ten uses.

Bought $140 Simms that worked fine, but they seem a little fragile. Poked on micro hole in about 5 trips that was easily repaired, and I wasn't even bushwacking. They don't have built in gravel guards.

Got the Dan Bailey's. After two trips to Alaska (the gravel and silt are always tough on gear there) they're still in great shape. They seem quite durable. The built in gravel guards are an appreciated convenience.

Buy in a slightly larger or longer size so you have lots of flexibility when climbing over things.

You guy's ready to have your mind blown? Baily's are now being built my redington. Redington is now owned and operated by Sage. Will this change the quality?

Hodgman= BAD, VERY BAD.
