Howdy all! Can anyone help with any info on the Samish River fishery? Would like to give it a go but really don't know very much about it besides a few basics. Help me out and you just might receive a personal report. Thank you very much.

Drive around the bottom mile or so of the river. Look for all the cars. You can't miss all the people. Pitch eggs with no weight around low tide.

Oh yeah, don't wear any clothes that you don't want to get muddy. And when you see people walking out with a limit of nasty boots, just smile and say, "those'll smoke up nice."

Last time I was there the boots looked to be more smokable than the salmons.

Get there early. Don't be suprized when people keep foul hooked fish. slap
You won't believe how dark a fish some folks keep. I use eggs and a minimum of weight.

thumbs Thanks guys. May give it a try before the weekend crowds. Been a very long time since I have hooked up with a King. Would be a nice change from the Humpies and Silvers. Along with eggs, may try using live sand shrimp I suppose (under a bobber, no weight). Have an abundance of both of them here. Have a great day and tight lines to ya'all. wink

I promised a Samish report and here it is folks. Five hours fishing, Zero Fish to show for it for my freind and I. Not that the fish wern't there. Saw at least fifteen or so roll but they seemed to be like some of you fisherpeople-ZIPPER LIPPED! Out of about twenty five or so people only saw one on and one caught (maybe 18 lbs. or so and fairly brite!). Was a nice change, rain and all, to fish something different besides these shores of Whidbey. Bought a two day license for freshwater. May give it another shot tomorrow with two or three of my girls if I can get their interest up. Take care all and tight lines to ya! beer
