I'd like to take my 16 ft. saltwater boat into the Snohomish. Can someone explain how to "troll" for silvers in a river? I've heard about this, but have no clue. thanks, Mark

Orange wiggle wart on 10 lb test line, 75 feet behind the boat will work well. Or a small dick nite spoon, on 5 foot leader, with a jet diver.

The lower Shohomish flows very slowly and has about zero current when the tide is in. It's like trolling a lake. Like silver hilton said, plugs or spoons.

You want to be near the bottom, so however many pulls it takes to do that. Generally about 50 feet or so, which would be 20-25 pulls. I am never that precise.

One note, use gear that doesn't get you fishing too far from the boat, or you're just going to get tangled with other folks. Use a size 20 jet planer, in clear or green (I spray paint mine flat black). You catch fish going both ways against the current, which, depending on the tide, will be flowing either upstream or down. wink

Are there many snags in there? I hate to sound like a saltwater nerd, but do people use downriggers, or should I adopt the river boater's method? I'm really open. Mark
